Defining fitness in a meaningful, measurable way: increasing strength and work capacity relative to time and movement quality improve overall fitness and health.
Striving to perfect functional movement and having the ability to move at high intensity are what create the focus of workouts at Core. This approach reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life.
The Fitness Athlete Program at Core combines the best of weight lifting, gymnastics and conditioning with a focus on athletes learning and developing the movement system as a whole. The focus is to optimize performance testing specific movements, using benchmark workouts and being proactive relative to injury prevention and overall movement efficiency. Variance is the key to getting better across all tasks modalities and times. The benefits of variability far outweigh anything in contrast for general adaptation, fitness and health across the long-term. It breeds consistency, challenge and breaks up the monotony of old-fashioned gym routines.
Overall, the aim of training using our Fitness Athlete principles is to develop and build on all aspects of fitness. This is supported by measurable, observable and repeatable results. The program prepares trainees for any physical contingency—not only for the unknown but for the unknowable, too. Our specialty is not specializing.
While this program challenges the most fit individuals, the program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual, regardless of experience. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change the program. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind.
