Defining fitness in a meaningful, measurable way: increasing strength and work capacity relative to time and movement quality improve overall fitness and health.
Striving to perfect functional movement and having the ability to move at high intensity are what create the focus of workouts at Core. This approach reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life.
Work capacity (noun):
- Maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time.
- Measurable as work divided by time or power. In a workout, the more work completed in a short amount of time, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.
The community that spontaneously arises when people complete these workouts together is a key component of why Core Fitness is so fun and effective. Through camaraderie, a sense of competition and eagerness to get better through intensity is unique at Core. The people keep you coming back, the coaches continual educate you, the program keeps delivering results.
Fitness professionals love data. Measuring strength and work capacity allow us, and you, to engage to the daily effort and lifestyle behind health and fitness. Keeping accurate scores and records through precise definitions of movement standards for performance, we not only motivate unprecedented output but derive both relative and absolute metrics to allow for continuous progress. This data has important value for both members and the direction of the program at Core.
Overall, the aim of training using our Fitness Athlete principles is to develop and build on all aspects of fitness. This is supported by measurable, observable and repeatable results. The program prepares trainees for any physical contingency—not only for the unknown but for the unknowable, too. Our specialty is not specializing.
While this program challenges the most fit individuals, the program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual, regardless of experience. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change the program. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind.
